Wine and Chocolate Pairing

There’s nothing better than an old-fashioned wine and chocolate pairing with friends. Serve from wooden boards and old fashion scorecards, dim the lights and get some ambiance going or pick a beloved movie for some nice background noise. Set up in the living room (picnic-style), or have a table at every corner of the room. Do it any way you like! It’s YOUR pairing party!!!

A few tips to make this tasting extra special:
  • Start your guests with the lighter chocolates first, white chocolate, for instance. Then move up the cocoa latter with a higher percentage in every bite.
  • Bring something new to try, for instance, something you and most of your friends have not tried yet. Give everyone’s taste buds a sense of adventure.
  • Speaking of adventure, don’t get too stuck on dark chocolates and red wines. Certainly, those are sensational together! But try something a little unconventional, what matters is what tastes good to you. Not everyone has the same palate.
  • Don’t rush through the tasting experience. Encourage your guests to take their time and enjoy. Create a bit of timelessness by using slow conversation. Make sure you have plenty of chocolate on hand for as many helpings as needed.
  • Give everyone their own plates to build as they move around the room.
  • Consider having guests bring one type of chocolate each, to share at the party. A favorite or something they’ve always wanted to try.
  • Send friends home with leftover chocolate bags. It’s a pleasant way to end the evening, with a bag full of sweet memories.
  • St. Patrick’s day is just around the corner. An old-time favorite is chocolate chip mint and it’s perfect for the holiday. Keep an eye out for variations of this minty theme. You’ll be glad you did.

Tuscan Country Bean Soup!

If you’ve got a chance to travel abroad in recent months, then you’re one of the lucky ones. …And I mean you’ve just won some land and a yurt in Barbados, lucky!

Perhaps you had a chance to taste some authentic beef stew in the hills of Maramures, Romania, or banqueted on a heavenly plater of Zlatibor pizza in the western hills of Serbia, or roamed the streets of Italy, living off of decadent dishes of pasta! No? Oh well. Many many others haven’t either. But you know what!? You certainly don’t have to stick with the weekly menu to stay satisfied. It’s true, nothing beats those family recipes or something really really good that you discovered and want to keep in rotation. Just remember, you’ve got options! How do we know? Because, if you search our blogs, you’ll soon find it is one of our favorite things to do here at Rosellas!!

We LOVE to share new and interesting recipes, to warm the heart, replenish the soul, and feed the belly.

SO, when was the last time you had an amazing Tuscan Country Bean Soup? If it’s been a while or you haven’t gotten around to this “honey, let’s get married” dish, then you’ve got to give it a try. It’s so easy to make and fills the house with aromas like Rosemary, Sweet Onion (if you like), strong healthy Garlic, and your choice of herbs. Your house is going to smell… well, like Tuscany! The beautiful thing about this bean dish is you can add new flavors with each bowl. Would you like a little lime spritzed on top? How about a dollop of sour cream to give it that extra tang? Have fun pairing some really great wine while you’re at it. We’ve got a variety to choose from.

Do you like a nice loaf of bread with your soup? How about the perfect roll? Any way you “slice” it, you can’t go wrong. Sprinkle a bit of your favorite cheese on top and crisp it in the oven. Douse your dowy sidekick with some tangy, homemade butter and your choice of herbs or flavoring. Don’t be shy, you’re in Tuscany, remember!?
