We are a small family owned and operated Estate winery growing 5 varietals on site – Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Chardonnay, Zinfandel and Syrah. It is our desire to grow the best fruit possible and to produce 1,000-1,500 cases of Small Lot, quality wines from that fruit.
Purchase of the vineyard occurred in 1998. We were looking for a lifestyle change. It was an opportunity to do something we had always dreamed of. As a boy, Rex helped with his Grandparents farm in Yakima, Washington. They grew concord grapes for Welch’s grape juice, so you might say Grape Juice has always coursed through his veins. I grew up in Daddy’s garden and eventually planted many of my own.
We dedicated the winery to Rex’s mother: Rosella. Her love of Hawaii and Hawaiian Culture inspired her. She was the epitome of Living Aloha. Which is, the coordination of mind and heart within each person. It brings each person to the self. Each person must think and express good feelings to others. Akahai, kindness to be expressed with tenderness.
You’ll find homage to that in our wines: Ula Waina, Manu Aloha and Wai Kula.
Thanks for visiting our site, and the next time you are in Southern Oregon, come see us along the Applegate Valley Wine Trail!
